The dunes of Maspalomas are located on the south coast of Gran Canaria. The dunes have been protected since the year 1897. They were formed by sand from the bottom of the ocean, during the last ice age, when the wind blew the sand towards the coast of the island. 
To get to the protected area, it is just a 200 meter walk from the lighthouse. A walkway along the western edge of the lagoon is the best spot for photography and binoculars. With luck you’ll see as many as 24 species of migratory and resident birds in a bay. Worth to have a look.
You can get to Faro Maspalomas – Meloneras by bus or by car. If you want to have a nice walk, you can walk all the way to Playa del Ingles along the beach. If you want to have a different experience to explore the dunes, you can sit on the back of a camel. Contact us for more information.
Meloneras is a great place to eat and shop. A walk along the boulevard and watch the surfers in the waves. You can easily spend a day here.
De duinen van Maspalomas liggen aan de zuidkust van Gran Canaria. De duinen zijn beschermd sinds het jaar 1897. Ze werden gevormd door zand van de bodem van de oceaan, tijdens de laatste ijstijd, toen de wind het zand naar de kust van het eiland blies.
Om naar het beschermde gebied te komen, is het slechts 200 meter lopen vanaf de vuurtoren. Een wandeling langs de westelijke rand van de lagune is de beste plek voor fotografie en verrekijkers. Met een beetje geluk ziet u maar liefst 24 soorten trekvogels en inheemse vogels in een baai. De moeite waard om een kijkje te nemen.
Je kunt Faro Maspalomas – Meloneras bereiken met de bus of met de auto. Als u een mooie wandeling wilt maken, kunt u helemaal naar Playa del Ingles langs het strand lopen.
